2025 has been full of incredible quinceañeras, and my heart is so full of graitude! 💕 Gabe and I love capturing these celebrations as a husband-and-wife photo + video team. Each family, each tradition, each moment—it’s such a joy to document these memories for a lifetime.

I am so grateful to Juliana and her family for inviting us into such a special moment of their lives. From the very first meeting, I genuinely loved getting to know them—their warmth, their excitement, and the love they poured into planning this celebration.

A quinceañera is so much more than just a birthday party. It’s an unforgettable celebration of faith, family, and culture. It’s also a beautiful transition—a new chapter where a young girl begins stepping into womanhood. Juliana’s quinceañera was the perfect reflection of that journey.

Planning a quinceañera is no small thing—it’s a big deal a once-in-a-lifetime special event that brings family together, tradition, and so much love. Juliana’s mom reached out to me a year in advance to make sure every detail was covered. From the very beginning, we worked together to bring their vision to life.

When the weather got warmer, we started planning her quinceañera photo shoot. Juliana and her mom chose the stunning Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe—and it could not have been more perfect. I was excited!

The gardens were blooming, the light was golden, there was so much color and it was Juliana’s moment to shine.

I always share a preparation guide with my quinceañera families. These photos are such a big deal, and it’s important to be prepared.

Here are a few of my top tips:
✨ Schedule your trial hair and makeup trail on the day of the shoot.
✨ Get your nails done ahead of time.(not necessary)
✨ Have your dress, crown, jewelry, bouquet, and shoes.
✨ Plan the photo shoot for spring, summer, or fall when the weather is beautiful.

Juliana followed all of this perfectly, and her portraits turned out absolutely stunning.

The Day of the Quinceañera
The big day started at home, where we captured all the little details—the dress hanging, her shoes, crown, invitation, and jewelry. Some of my favorite moments are the candid ones: Juliana laughing with her mom, getting help from her sister, her friends cheering her on.

We then headed to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. The ceremony included beautiful traditions like presenting flowers to the Virgen de Guadalupe and Juliana reading a heartfelt message. These moments always move me—the traditions are so meaningful, and the families put their whole hearts into them.

After mass, we stepped outside for formal portraits right outside the church with family and her court.

After the church, it’s always important to choose a beautiful park nearby for portraits. For Juliana, we headed to Woffelbuttel Park in Kenosha, Wisconsin—a hidden gem right on Lake Michigan. The park gave us the perfect backdrop: the water, the greenery, and that open, natural beauty that makes quinceañera portraits so special.

We spent about an hour at the park with Juliana’s court of honor—her chambelanes, her sisters, and her close friends. We created a variety of photos with her and the boys, capturing both formal portraits and fun, candid moments. This is where the day slowed down a little. Everyone relaxed, laughed, and just enjoyed the moment together.

One thing I always share with my quinceañera families is my style. It’s a mix of both posed and candid—but always laid back and fun. Of course, we do the traditional portraits (because moms and abuelas love those!), but the heart of my work is really in the candid, journalistic moments.

The celebration continued at the Wisconsin Community College, where Juliana’s family had transformed the space into a dream quinceañera. I photographed all the details before the party began—the cake, the tables, the decorations—everything looked beautiful.

Then came the moments everyone was waiting for:
💃 The traditional dances with her parents.
👠 The changing of the shoes, symbolizing Juliana stepping into womanhood.
🎀 The last doll tradition.
🎶 A choreographed dance with her court that they had been practicing for weeks.

The room was filled with joy, music, and pride. It was truly Juliana’s day to shine, surrounded by so much love.

Juliana’s quinceañera was a dream from start to finish. Seeing her confidence, her joy, and the way her family celebrated her brought me so much happiness.

To all the moms planning a quinceañera—you’re doing such an incredible job. I know it takes months of preparation (sometimes years!), but it’s worth every moment when you see your daughter glowing on her big day. And to the quinceañeras—this is your time to shine. Enjoy every minute.
